Contrary to some reports of the mainstream press, which naturally tends to favor increased governmental intervention for reasons that were explained in pp. 5.4:88 and 5.4:92, the global-warming theory has not been endorsed by the majority of reputable climatological scientists, although it is very popular among statist-oriented political scientists and government officials. The motivation behind legislation to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions is therefore not scientific but political, reflecting the bias against capitalism, industry, and even the human species (portrayed as an enemy of nature in general) that pervades our culture.      Next page
