Financing Government in a Free Market (optional material)
The thoughtful student has probably wondered how the government might be financed in a free-market society. Before answering this question, a number of more basic issues must be addressed. Is a free-market society practical? What kind of government might such a society have? What would be its function(s), and how might they be implemented? In what kind of economic and cultural environment would such a government operate? Section 5 will discuss all of these questions as well as the issue of government finance.
