In the last example, for instance, it may seem to a speculator that a truly "rational" market should have anticipated the rise in the price of G, and that his or her profits merely take advantage of this alleged shortcoming. In fact, however, the market does anticipate and prepare for the rising price, precisely through the actions of this speculator and his or her colleagues.
