Advertising and Political Reductionism (optional material)
The notion that anything regarded as ethically undesirable (such as, perhaps, distasteful advertising) ought to be prohibited by legal (i. e., political) action derives from what we shall later identify as the Fallacy of Political Reductionism. This important and widespread logical fallacy, which erroneously conflates two ethical ideas, will be discussed in the final subsection of Section 3, where we shall address "Ethics in Society."
