We have ample evidence that human beings choose among alternatives in their mental processes and that these choices translate into alternative physical actions. Although we typically take our knowledge of external reality into account in our decisions, we do not experience those decisions as "dictated" by external factors, nor do we have any evidence that conceptual consciousness is controlled by environment, logical necessity, or other prior factors. Consequently, we are fully justified in describing the human capacity of choice as volitional and calling it free will.
