Clearly then, logic, if it is to have valid application to the real world at all, must be more than string manipulation. In particular, the meaning of our propositions depends on the meanings of their constituent concepts, and those concepts must relate to reality by means of definite connections. Formal deductive logic is but one component of this logical process, which cannot be fully separated from the whole.     Next page
